25th and 26th April: Ashtanga Yoga from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali – Inner Peace, Geneva (With John Sellinger).

In this two-day workshop, participants will learn the foundational principles and practices of the system of Ashtanga Yoga (the yoga of eight limbs) as presented in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. This ancient and profound science of self-transformation addresses the human personality in all of its aspects of body, breath-and-prana as well as mind-and-emotions.

This workshop will introduce elementary philosophy of Ashtanga Yoga as well as essential practices of this system including physical practices, breathing practices and meditation. Also, the essential practices of yamas and niyamas (clarifying the dynamics of emotions and relationships) will be addressed as an essential aspect of this practical and integrated approach to self-transformation.

Participants with all levels of experience and welcome to join.  Before the class begins, please let the teacher know of any physical disabilities, illnesses or other concerns such as pregnancy.

May 2020

9th May: Meditative Approach to Asanas – LIV Lab (With John Sellinger).

This workshop offers an introduction to the traditional meditative approach to physical yoga practice.  Practices would include traditional “joints & glands” practice involving subtle movement with breath and prana awareness, as well as the meditative approach to asana (as given in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras) aspiring to approach the state of Sthira Sukham.

Participants with all levels of experience and welcome to join.  Before the class begins, please let the teacher know of any physical disabilities, illnesses or other concerns such as pregnancy.

The workshop will take place at: LIV Lab, Schützenstrasse 6, 6003 Luzern, Switzerland.

30th and 31st May: Foundations of Pranayama and Yoga Meditation – Inner Peace, Geneva (With John Sellinger).

This workshop offers an introduction to the traditional approach of working with the breath as given in Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as well as foundational training in yoga meditation. Participants will refine the subtleties of the breath with a focus on Dirgha Sukshma which, with practice, will lead to the state of meditation (Dhyana) and ultimately towards Samadhi

Breathing practices will progress from a basis of diaphragmatic breath training to the practice of Nadi Shodhanam, Kapalabhati and Bhastrika.  Participants will learn theory, philosophy and correct practice of these pranayamas.

Training in foundations of yoga meditation will include correct comfortable sitting posture, breath for meditation and training in how to apply Dharana, the one-pointed flow of mind.

June 2020

5th, 6th and 7th June: Progressing in Yoga Nidra – Inner Peace, Geneva (With Dr. Stephen Parker and John Sellinger).

This programme will review foundational practices and elementary philosophy covered at the previous workshop (Introduction to Yoga Nidra) in 2019 which is intended introduce and prepare participants for the practice of yoga nidra as taught within the Himalayan Tradition of Yoga Meditation.

The workshop will then continue with further discussion on the essential principles of Yoga Nidra and key points of the progression of its practice.  Students will also be guided in further yoga nidra practices.

The workshop is recommended for participants who have a strong foundation in the basics of yoga and who have established a regular persona practice.

The workshop will take place at: Inner Peace, Rue Saint-Léger 22, Vieille-Ville, 1204 Genève.

13th and 14th June Chitta Prasadanam: Clear and Beautiful Mind PART 1 – Raum, Basel (With Michael Kissener and John Sellinger).

This programme will focus on introducing the philosophy and practical approach to achieving the state of Chitta Prasadanam – clarity and beauty of the mind.  Given in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali as an important and necessary preparation in the practice of meditation deepening to samadhi.  Practices leading to Chitta Prasadanam are intended to reduce conflicts of the mind-field and lead the practitioner to a state of internal peace, joy and harmony, which is both a boon to life and relationships and also a necessary accomplishment in one’s internal journey of meditation.

The workshop will take place at RAUM, Palmenstrasse 4, Basel.

27th and 28th June: Chitta Prasadanam: Clear and Beautiful Mind PART 2 – Raum, Basel (With Michael Kissener and John Sellinger).

This is the second part of the programme introducing the philosophy and practical approach to Chitta Prasadanam from the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali.

In Australia

For those in the Fleurieu Peninsula, South Australia, there are currently two regular classes per week which will run until the end of February 2020 and will re-start in September 2020. Check the Fleurieu Himalayan Yoga facebook group for more info.

1) Open Yoga class Monday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at 3 Zilm Ct, Victor Harbor or otherwise in fair weather occasionally at Soldier’s Memorial Gardens, Port Elliot.

2) Family Yoga for parents and kids, 4:15 – 5:15 at 3 Zilm Ct, Victor Harbor. Mums and Dads feel free to bring your kids along and they can join / play with Lea in the garden outside. $10 adults, $5 kids, children under 5 free!
